went for my weekly every tuesday religious class yesterday. i've been missing it for three weeks, i think. i skipped it on 9th becoz i had exams on the 10th. then the cny holidays, no class. then 23rd i skipped it becoz i was quarantined for my illness.
so i was glad to attend class yesterday. but yesterday was more of a mini maulidur rasul celebration rather than class. it was decided last week that they will be doing a celebration this week and yesterday it was. usually i dont really dress up for the class, but yesterday becoz we celebrating the maulid of the chosen one, Rasul Alllah saw, so I decided to wear my pink baju kurung hehehehehe..!! and that baju kurung is 8-years old already, and im glad it still fits, hahahah...!!
we started the class with ratib ba'alwi while waiting for the ustazah, whom i call bonda, to arrive. while reading, bonda arrived with her two daughters, her daughter in law and 7 grandkids. meriah kan?
while some of the jama'ah helped out in the kitchen, we did our selawats and masyaAllah, it was an amazing feeling. and i donno why, everytime i say out selawat, especially when there are lots of people, i feel like crying. yes, i do cry. my eyes will start to water. maybe the feeling is a different one, being able to sing praises of the Prophet saw in the month of his birthday.
and i wonder why some people say maulidur rasul is bid'ah. for me, it's not, of coz. let's put it this way, when you love someone, and that someone has passed away and no longer is in front of your eyes, when it's his/her birthday, we tend to remember him/ her right? and then we send du'as adn al-fateha for him/ her right?
so why can't we do the same thing for our beloved Prophet? he is our beloved one, so why shouldn't we be remembering him and taking this time to try and follow his ways?
but yes, while celebrating, we just need to keep in mind lah, no mixing around of opposite sexes, no wastage of food and money, you know the works. and if im not wrong, (forgive me if i am wrong), it was stated in a hadith that majlis zikir/ selawat is like little gardens of paradise (syurga/ jannah). don't we want to be in them?
but anyway, back to the story, while doing the selawat also, we did a cukur rambut for bonda's youngest cuc also. so the baby had her hair cut by 7 elderly ladies. we were all standing and doing the selawats. if only i could capture that on camera but then i had no permission from the ladies.
done with the selawats, bonda sampaikan a little story about a hadith which was touching on the topic of taubat. lovely hadith, masyaAllah.
then we had our little makan session. we had nasi ambeng on trays (dulangs.) It was 5-6 people per dulang so it was a little messy but fun. The dishes included were ayam lemak cili padi, sambal goreng, rendang, sayur goreng, ikan goreng and sambal belacan mangga (POWER!). and there was dadih for desert too!

dadih
and from bonda, she gave us a gift of a ratib book and a tasbih. she also gave us bunga rampai, bunga telur and pulut kuning.
ratib book and tasbih
bunga rampai
bunga telur
pulut kuning
i was in charge of giving out the bunga telur and pulut kuning. done with the bunga telur, i was to start the distribution of pulut kuning, when bonda signalled for to come near her. she said, "kalao bonda masih idop, bila sampai jodoh kau, bonda hadiahkan pulut kuning. bonda buat sendiri untuk kau." i smiled my widest smile, "insyaAllah, Nda doakan lah..." Then she took a bowl of the pulut kuning, read some du'as into it, and passed me the bowl. "Nah, ni kau punyer." Yippeee!! How lovely to get du'as on a gathering like this, Alhamdulillah. coz they say in a majlis zikir/ selawat like this, malaikats are around to ameenkan our du'as, MasyaAllah.
helped out with the cleaning and reached home and slept at nearly 12 am, hehehe... but i was all smiles, coz the occasion was a lovely one. and, and, and, I ate that pulut for breakfast this morning, hehehe...!!!
